Fight or flight response
—The 3 major pathways of the body the fight or flight response travels through:
--1. Neuro pathway (sympathetic pathway)
--2. Neuroendocrine pathway (sympathoadrenomedullary system)
--3. Endocrine pathway (hyptothalmic-pituitary-adrenal-cortical system)
--1&2 comprise the alarm stage and 3 is the resistance stage. The resistance stage occurs if the stressor is not completely removed or coped with properly. Exhaustion occurs when the body’s adaptation energy resources become depleted and fatigued.
The following video explains another concept, referred to as GENERAL ADAPTATION SYNDROME.
